munner mission

Munner is a farm and queer artist haven cultivating unique florals and nutrient-dense pleasurable foods. Our vegetables, flowers, herbs, and strawberries are nestled within a young orchard of native fruit and nut trees, and rotated annually with our small flock of heritage breed ducks and geese (who prodigiously lay the most luscious eggs). My deepest pleasure is sharing the incredible bounty these humble ten acres can hold. At the heart of Munner farm is an expression of beauty, queer vitality, ecological resilience, and a daily ritual of nourishment and reciprocity.

what’s a “munner”?

“Munner” comes from the best pronunciation of the word “grandmother” that my oldest cousin could muster when she was just a toddler. The nickname stuck, and that is what everyone called my grandmother. Munner was a master gardener, a charter member of the Fort Worth, Texas Garden Club, and spent nearly all of her waking hours devoted to her plants and trees. For a gay red-headed step child such as myself Munner’s garden was a place I felt safe, and where I felt needed. Munner always said “that the best tools are your hands.” She also told me that if I sang to the flowers it would keep them in bloom. I still do that sometimes.
